Hi! I just want to thank you for making this site/video. I am pregnant and have been suffering from severe sciatica for weeks. I've tried all the stretches, exercises, etc. recommended by other sites and doctors with no relief. I have been suffering from other signs of dehydration also. I never would have thought to relate my sciatica to dehydration. I am increasing my water intake starting today, I hope that this will be the answer to my pain. Thank you so much for opening my eyes to a way to hopefully relieve my pain!

My problem started over a month ago. I accidentally kicked a coffee table and broke my middle toe on my left leg. The next day it was still swollen a little bruised and I was limping pretty bad.
I continued to work because I had just started a new job. Two days later I start getting "traveling" extremely painful cramps in that leg. For 3 weeks I barely slept at all. The only way to get relief was to get on all fours in the bed with my knees pulled up close to my chest.. it was just for relief because I couldn't sleep that way. I went to the ER after about of week of this and they didn't xray and said I had a broke toe and some sciatica.. gave me 2 shots, prednisone, 500 mg naproxen and vicoden. It helped very little. After about 2 1/2 weeks, its a little better. I had to get up an hour early just to be able to practice walking so I could go to work..
Its now been over a month and the traveling cramps are gone but now I am still walking with a limp and I feel pain around my ankle and tibia. I also have noticed darker blue viens. Not really dark but I didn't have them before. I get tingling sensations like my leg was asleep and was waking up but my leg wasn't asleep. My left buttock is catching the most pain when I walk and its like a tight rubber bank being wound extra tight all of a sudden. Pain is so sharp, I feel like I will pass out. It doesn't happen every time I walk but I would say every other time..

I have a grandson with severe & multiple disabilities that I have been holding, moving, bathing, pushing for almost 9 years now and Im sure that didn't help this situation.

When I stand for a long time, the left bottom part of my spine aches at about my hip sockets... I was thinking of going to the orthopedic doctor but have no insurance.
How long is too long to go without getting this checked out and should I be concerned about the viens on the side of my ankle? Im 45 years old... I've never had any back problems before or any other problems.

i am a banker and live in Sri Lanka. i am 30 years old and have this back pain over 7 years. i have done a MRI scan and doctors said i have de generative disc decease. since i am young they recommend to do back muscle strengthening exercises. now i have a neck pain also. i am not over weighted but i have a huge stomach. i love to eat meat and i eat a lot but i am an average person. only problem is the stomach and i cant do exercises to trim it down because of the back and neck pain. i will start walking as advised and i have tried it before and it increases the pain and now i cant even stand alone for few minutes in one stance.pls advice.

Paul,

All the best to you my friend! I know it has been a long haul but I also know that now that they know what was at the heart of it all, they have addressed it properly. You are also a very smart guy and know what it will take to get back once you are able to return to activity.

Get through physical therapy and then stay active and you will be fine.

It's funny! I was just thinking about you on my walk last night. No kidding!

Take care of yourself Paul and get well soon!

Hi Taylor!

I take a few days off and I get more comments on my various blogs than I have received in a year! Go figure! I apologize for not getting back to you.

I removed your email address and your last name from the comment. This way people can still gain insight from the comment
without knowing who you are. If you want me to take it all the way down, just let me know.

An annular tear is simply a tear in the annulus fibrosus, the outer cartilaginous ring that holds the nucleus pulposus in place and
maintains the integrity of the disc. As long as it isn't a bad tear, you should be fine, the body will repair itself. If the tear is enough
to allow the nucleus to protrude laterally and posteriorly, meaning to the side and back, you may have some nerve root pressure
...and that can be very painful.

By now, the MRI should have provided a window into what is going on. Now a-days they can do a laminectomy and you can be
good to go in no time, if you have nerve root involvement. Joe Montana played football for th4e 49ers 3 weeks after his!

If you don't have a herniated (ruptured) disc or one that is impinging on the nerve root they won't operate, nor should you let them!
Most back pain resolves in short order on its own. Most people don't realize that and most physicians don't tell you...for whatever
reason.

If you are still having pain after 90 days you need to get more aggressive.

I suggest the program at http://thebadbackguy.net because it works for most people. Funny thing about it? I have been accused of
spamming and scamming and everything else. I give every dime I get from the sales to a charity for children here in Cleveland!

Oh well, such is life!

If you are having issues and the program above doesn't do it for you or you would like more information, just let me know. If you are
local (or not?) I can also work with you one-on-one.

In any case, I wish you the best!

Sincerely,

John

PS, I also sent this to your email address!

Hi Paul!

Sorry about the lag and I am so glad to hear you are on the mend. Yes, the weight gain with the inactivity creates its own problems. I do get some tightness and once in a while if I over do it I get some soreness but overall I am as pain free as I have ever been...and that goes back to 1971 when I had my first fusion and then 1972 when I "damaged" it while in the Army. Not a great thing to do, enlist after a fusion. But it was 1972 and they were taking everyone because of that little thing going on in SE Asia! Every successive surgery put me in a bigger hole and created more problems. It wasn't until the osteomyelitis and the cancer that I really had to get very serious, apply my education, training, and experience for my own benefit. I just can't believe it took almost losing my life to reclaim it. Better late than never, huh?

Anyway, thanks so much for reading and for commenting, it means a lot to me! Thank you too for the email...it kicked me in the butt and got me focused again.

Take care Paul!
