The 30 Day Neck Pain, Back Pain, and Sciatica Relief and Treatment Challenge Day 3: Shoes and Socks

by coachz5 on October 17, 2009

I began the video below a few times before settling on this one. I begin the one below by talking about neck pain, back pain, and sciatica, and how important shoes and socks are, and then I get off the track towards the end of the video because it is so important you know why I am doing this, and for you to know that it is OK to contact me if you have an issue with anything I suggest, any sort of feedback at all is OK as you begin your neck pain, back pain, and/or sciatica relief and treatment exercise program. I sincerely mean it when I say we will do this together!

So far we have talked about the basis for The 30 Day Neck Pain, Back Pain, and Sciatica Relief Challenge and how to begin. We have discussed why it is important to keep your feet healthy and how to do so. Let me reiterate, make sure your feet are clean and dry before, during, and after your walk and/or exercise routine, particularly when starting out. Watch for swollen ankles and blisters, attend to them immediately, as they will derail your program faster than anything.

As you begin your neck pain, back pain, and/or sciatica relief program, the proper shoes and socks are crucial. The first step to real and lasting pain relief is to make sure you have the right equipment, and in this case that means the right shoes and socks. If you do not have the proper foundation, if you begin to have problems with your feet early in your exercise program. Once again, problems with your feet will stop everything before you ever get going.

Make sure you have the proper shoes, don’t go cheap on the shoes, you will end up paying for that mistake one hundred times over! The 3 shoes I recommend are:

1) New Balance 1063. Great support and very durable with nice cushioning. New Balance are particularly nice for people who may be difficult to fit. New Balance are also about the best for neck pain, back pain, and sciatica relief exercise programs because of the cushioning. The nice part about ShoeBuy.com is that they pay for shipping both ways for many selections, including most of the New Balance shoes.

2) Asics Gel-Evolution 5. In the video I call my shoes the Asics Gel-Nimbus but they were the ones I almost purchased. I went instead with the Asics Gel-Evolution 5. They are one of the best pairs of shoes I have ever owned, after the New Balance! Great support and feel, while still providing a nice cushion, important for bigger people and people suffering from neck pain, back pain, and/or sciatica.

3) The third pair, I just ordered but haven’t received yet, but have it on good authority that they are the best! They are the Skechers Shape-ups. While a bit “clunky,” my wife’s description, every nurse I have talked to that owns a pair just loves them. Because the people recommending them are nurses and are on their feet all day, many suffering from one kind of neck pain, back pain or sciatica issue or another, I felt I had to include them, even before they arrive here at the house for a real-live test drive.

The ShoeBuy.com icon on the sidepanel will take you to one of the best sites online for New Balance walking or running shoes (mens or womens). They also offer an also-ran, a shoe I almost included because I do a lot of walking on paths and trails and they are great, the Rockport Prowalker. The Rockport shoes are great! The Rockport Prowalker 7100 is a great shoe, very durable, good cushioning and support for neck pain, back pain, and sciatica sufferers.

Socks!

The right socks are equally important, you should make sure you wear white socks with good cushioning. Don’t skimp of shoes or socks, it will end up costing you many times the original price if you do, in terms of discomfort, and even in medical treatment. Pay close attention to your feet throughout the program but particularly early on.

Again, if you have any questions or concerns about how to begin your own neck pain, back pain, and sciatica relief exercise program, contact me and leave a message, day or night, and I will get back to you.

Follow any part of this program daily here and for additional articles on neck pain, back pain, and sciatica relief strategies go to my other “main” back pain blog.

The best overall program to start with for real and lasting neck pain, back pain, and sciatica relief, the one I used and still refer to, just click this link to get there!

But just start walking if that’s all you can swing right now, just start doing something and the rest will fall into place Take what you need from my articles and videos and reclaim your life!
